Atty. Neil F. MacDonald

Atty. Neil F. MacDonald, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Atty. Neil F. MacDonald, 60, of Scranton, died Monday, June 1. He and his wife, Kathleen Gleason, were married on April 27. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Neil J. and Dorothy Grudis MacDonald and a member of St. Patrick's Parish.

A graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and the University of Scranton, he earned his Juris Doctorate cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. He was a founding partner at Durkin MacDonald LLC.

Neil will be remembered by all for his boundless energy, unfailing wit, and unrivaled love of the Dunmore and Greater Scranton area and its people. Whether in a courtroom or a kayak, Neil never failed to put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was the kind of man you could count on to be ready with advice, a pickup truck, a joke, and sometimes, all three. He made a friend in every room he entered. He taught his sons that "to whom much is given, much is expected in return," and we all would do well to honor his memory through the spirit of service to others. Neil spent his last hours on Earth helping Neil Patrick's and Ethan's Babce in the garden.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons: Neil Patrick and partner Kelsey Hanson, Ethan Michael and partner Fatima Torres; and a stepdaughter Maeve Gleason and fiancé Aaron Angerson; three brothers: Greg and wife Jennifer, Brian and wife Cherry, and Tom and wife Kristen; numerous aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Saturday, June 6, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St., celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Friends and family may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home, Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692., or at heart.org.
