Maureen Trently, 73, of Scranton, died Saturday, May 2, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Her husband of 37 years is John Trently. Born in Minooka, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Madeline Dileo Thomas.

A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, she worked in the Scranton Single Tax Office until her retirement.

She loved music and dancing (Cher and John Mellencamp were among her favorites), as well as long shopping excursions with her sister, Debi. A beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt, she will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband John she leaves behind a son, Nolan Trently and wife Alena; a stepson, John Trently; two sisters: Diane Jarecki and husband Ronald, and Debi Thomas; a brother, Don Thomas and wife Nilda; two nieces: Danine Grambo and Marla Grill; a nephew, Jason Jarecki; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Thomas.
