Mary A. Brutico, 71, of Scranton, died Thursday, October 8. Her husband, the late Dr. Carmen J. Brutico Jr., died March 5, 2026.
Born in Scranton, Mary was a daughter of Marie Magnani McIntyre and the late Joseph McIntyre and a graduate of South Catholic High School. She worked in the healthcare field as a medical secretary and later an office manager.
Mary was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who treasured time spent with the people she loved. Whether it was a large family gathering or a simple game of Yahtzee, one of her favorites, Mary enjoyed bringing people together and making the most of those moments. She took great pride in her sons and their accomplishments, and was always there to celebrate their successes. She and Carmen shared many happy years together, and her love and devotion were especially evident in the care she provided throughout his long struggle with frontotemporal dementia. When faced with her own illness, Mary showed that same courage and strength. She will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family and the many ways she made their lives better.
In addition to her mother, Mary is also survived by her sons, Thomas Miller Jr., Robert Miller, and Christopher Miller and wife, Vathsana; two grandchildren, Grant and Selah; two sisters, Theresa Nealis and husband Joe; and Kathleen Patrizi; three brothers, Joseph, Patrick, and Michael McIntyre; two stepdaughters, Ariana Brutico-Crawford and husband, Jake; and Angelina Vanness and husband, Jon; two stepsons, Carmen J. Brutico III and wife, Margaret; and Justin Brutico and husband, Nikolus Guidry; her ex-husband, Thomas Miller, Sr.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be Thursday, October 15, from 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home.
The funeral will be Saturday, October 17, with a blessing service at 10 a.m. at the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., followed immediately by entombment of cremated remains at Italian American Cemetery.
