Maryrose Lenihan, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Maryrose Shields Lenihan, 73, of Dunmore, died Tuesday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Her husband of 29 years was the late Edward J. Lenihan, who died in 2019. Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Frank W. and Marie Stokes Shields. A member of St. Paul's Parish, she was an active member of the choir at the Cathedral of Saint Peter.

Maryrose attended South Catholic and graduated from Central High School before earning her bachelor's from Marywood. Prior to retirement she worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

Maryrose was a loving and devoted mother and sister. She loved music and visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Daniel Lenihan and his wife Aimee, Dunmore, and stepson Paul Lenihan and wife Katie, Florida. Her two sisters Ruth Shoener and husband Edward, and Annmarie Shields, both of Scranton. Sisters-in-law Karen Shields and Helen Marie Pipcho of Virginia and Marianne Lenihan of Scranton and brother-in-law Paul of Connecticut, and her nieces and nephews Ed, Rob and Bill Shoener from Scranton and Kristen and Frank Shields and Jennifer Pipcho Jones from Virginia.

She was also preceded in death by her brother Frank Shields and her niece Katie Shoener.

The funeral will be Friday, August 22, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 315 Wyoming Ave., followed by interment of cremated remains at Cathedral Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church prior to Mass from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
