Ann King, 93, of Minooka, died Sunday June 1 at home after a brief illness. Her husband of 44 years was the late Joseph M. King, who preceded her in death in 2001.

Born at home in the Nativity section of Scranton, Ann was a daughter of the late Frank and Bridget Agnes Durkin Palmer. A graduate of St. Mary's Assumption High School, she was a member of Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph's Church.

Ann was the assistant editor of the University of Scranton's Bestellers Magazine, and later worked as a secretary in the university's Theology department before her retirement in 1994.

A lifelong reader who loved books, Ann was also an avid bowler. She and Joe enjoyed dancing together and dinner dates at the Cardinal Inn. She had many longtime friends in her neighborhood and loved spending time with them, and enjoyed traveling with family and friends.

Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by her large family.

She is survived by her five children, Brian and wife Susan; Peg, Joseph and wife, Teri; and Alan King; and Carolyn Lamond and husband, Tim;

eleven grandchildren, Tim and wife, Mariah; Kelly and husband, Joe; Kevin and wife, Colleen; Daniel, Briana and husband, Tyler; Joseph, Brandon, Lindsey, Rory and wife, Morgan; Aaron and wife, Chrissy; Carly and husband, Domenick; twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Claire Spathelf and Mary Dougherty; and a brother, Francis Palmer.

The funeral will be Monday, June 9, with Mass at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph's Church. Friends may visit from 8 a.m. until Mass begins, at the church.
