Nicholas Drost, 84, formerly of Moosic and Scranton, died Thursday, Sept. 5, at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital. His wife of 59 years, the former Catherine (Kay) Woodyatt, preceded him in death in 2018.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Kochan Drost. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church until its closing and later St. Paul of the Cross Parish in South Scranton. Educated in Scranton public schools, prior to retirement he worked for Saquoit Industries and Astro.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and never hesitated to help someone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Havrilchak and husband, William, of Blandon, Pa.; and Linda Stahley and husband, Mark, of Lexington, S.C.; three grandchildren, Mark Supinski, Nicole Havrilchak and William J. Havrilchak; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Peter, Michael and Frank Drost; and six sisters, Anna Rodeman, Catherine Novitsky, Rose Kocsis, Julie Schadt, Mary Drost, and Helen Hludzik.
The family would like to express gratitude to his niece, Barbara Marta, for the help she gave him over the years after the passing of Kay, and also to the the staffs of Life Geisinger Scranton and Minersville, as well as that of Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital for their kind and compassionate care for him.
