Allen T. Coe, 68, a resident of Scranton, Pennsylvania (PA), peacefully passed away on September 4, 2024 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton, PA, after a long illness.
Allen was born in Philadelphia, PA in August 1956 and was raised primarily in Morton, PA. He was the son of the late Daisy Mae (Greene) Coe and the late Judge L. Coe, Sr. He graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Delaware County, PA.
During and after graduating high school, Allen had a variety of jobs. His industriousness, strong work ethic, and punctuality enabled him to get employment at an early age at the Springfield Mr. Car Wash & Detail Center, Springfield, PA, his first true full-time job. He eventually found that his best vocation was in culinary arts. During his professional career, he was a cook at the old Magic Pan & Creperie, Springfield Mall, Springfield, PA; the Court Diner, Media, PA; the Pocono Manor & Resort, Monroe County, PA (where he met Ruth Caffrey, his life partner of 20-years); and the Mount Airy Casino, Resort & Spa, Mount Pocono, PA, his last job before retirement. One of Allen's most favorite jobs was with the old Harmon's Trash & Recycling Company, where he worked as a waste collector. Allen especially loved all kinds of music, valued talking to people and making friends, and enjoyed cooking for people so they could enjoy the dishes he made.
Allen was preceded to eternal rest by his father and mother, Judge L. Coe, Sr. and Daisy Mae Coe, and two sisters, Angela G. Coe Wiggins Carter and Deborah D. Coe. Allen was blessed with and is survived by his life partner of 20-years, Ruth Caffrey of Scranton, PA and her son Pat, whom he regarded as his step-son. Allen leaves to further cherish his memories: three sisters, Gloria Coe of Chesapeake, Virginia, Shari Coe of Morton, PA, and Bernadette Coe of Media, PA; two brothers, Gregory Coe (Robin) of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Judge Coe, Jr. (Lorraine) of Upper Darby, PA; and his many other relatives and friends.
