Delores M. Ostroski of Moosic, passed away Thursday at Scranton Health Care Center after an illness. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Wanda Ostroski and resided in the Greenwood section of Moosic for most of her adult life. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Delores studied music at Wilkes University. Upon completion of her studies, she joined the office staff of the family-owned business, Mid-Valley Roofing and Supply Company, Moosic, for several years. Eventually, she became employed in the office of the Pennsylvania Department of Health in Scranton, from where she retired.
Delores enjoyed her retirement, ushering events at the Scranton Cultural Center and as a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society in Moosic. She was always delighted with visits from her nieces and nephews, and especially enjoyed sharing all the holidays and special events with them throughout her lifetime. Her dinners were a culinary delight, as well as her butter cookies and fruitcake, which she shared with friends and relatives. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Church in Scranton.
She is survived by her brother, Richard Sr. and wife, Lois, Moosic, who were her caregivers; a sister-in-law, Henrietta, Moscow; three nephews, Richard Jr. and wife, Chris, Wallenpaupack; Mark Sr. and wife, Renee, West Wyoming; and J. Christopher, Moscow; a niece, Kara and husband, Dunton Francis, Moscow; three grand-nephews, Mark Jr., Dylan, and Nathan; and a grand-niece, Tegan Ostroski.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack.
Delores's family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Scranton Health Care Center for the fine care Delores received during her stay there.
The funeral will be Tuesday, with a service at 10 a.m. at the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Polish National Cemetery, Minooka.
