Ann Carrescia, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Ann Lydon Carrescia, 88, of the Hill Section, died Saturday at Scranton Health Care Center. Her husband of 52 years, Matthew P. Carrescia, preceded her in death in 2007.

Born in Minooka, she was a daughter of the late Michael P. and Mary Ellen Niland Lydon. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She worked at Manhattan Shirt and also as a teacher's aide for the Scranton School District, prior to retirement.

Ann was a deeply loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister, who loved spending time with her family, especially the high holy day of St. Patrick's Day, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She also loved playing bingo and trips to Atlantic City. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Surviving are her three children, Matthew Carrescia and wife, Jackie; Cindy and husband, Gene Rettig; and Sandy and husband, Mark Rossi; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ellen Lydon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice McKeel; and a brother, Thomas Lydon.

The family would like to thank Scranton Health Care Center and all of her very dear friends who called, checked in on her and sent cards.

Friends and family may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. John Neumann Parish at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard St., celebrated by the Rev. Jonathan Kuhar, pastor. The family requests that those attending the funeral proceed directly to the church.
