Catherine Regan Richards, 90, of Pittston, died Wednesday at Wesley Village. Her husband of 53 years is John Albert (Bert) Richards.

Born in Minooka, Catherine was a daughter of the late William and Mary Donovan Regan. She was a member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish. She was also an active and devoted member of St. Mary's Assumption Parish and school.

The 1949 valedictorian of Minooka High School, in her early years she was employed at A&P Stores.

Catherine was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to service to others. She was always available, not only to her family but also to anyone in need of a helping hand and an open heart. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

She is also survived by two daughters, Mary Kate Richards, of Pittston; and Sheila McCormick and husband, Daniel, of Downington; two grandchildren, Harper and Eloise McCormick; and several cousins.

The family extends its gratitude to the staff at United Methodist Homes Wesley Village and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the excellent care she received.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main St., Pittston, celebrated by the Rev. Paul A. McDonnell, O.S.J., followed by interment at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston.

A viewing will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton PA 18505. For your safety and for ours, masks will be required at the viewing.

The family requests that those attending the Mass on Monday proceed directly to the church.
