William E. Buckley, 87, of Moosic, died Tuesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. His wife of 44 years, the former Dolores Biga, preceded him in death in 2007.

Born in Scranton, son of the late William and Catherine Egan Buckley, he was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish. A 1951 graduate of Scranton Central High School, Bill served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959; and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years.

A fan of the voice and music of Perry Como, Bill was also an avid New York Giants and Yankees fan. A loving father and grandfather who adored his grandchildren, Bill will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered, by all who knew him.

Surviving are a son, Kevin, Moosic; and a daughter, Amy M. Tini and husband, Joe, Archbald; he was lovingly known as "Papa" to eight grandchildren, Ryan Buckley and fiancée, Shannon; Megan and Kristen Buckley, all of Dickson City; Ashley Buckley Arevalo and husband, Michael, California; Kayla Buckley, Taylor; Amanda, Joe and Maura Tini, all of Archbald; a sister, Elizabeth Gavin, Scranton; a sister-in-law, Carol Paddock and husband, Tony, Moosic; a brother-in-law, Mike Abdalla, Moosic; his beloved friend, Mary Alice Naughton, North Scranton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher; sisters, Marie Kreis and husband, Robert; and Catherine Abdalla; a brother-in-law, Frank Gavin; and a nephew, Michael Kreis.

Kevin and Amy would like to thank Linda Strong and her son, Kenny, for their many kindnesses to Bill over the years.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Queen of the Apostles Church, 714 Hawthorne St., Avoca, to be celebrated by the Rev. Phillip J. Sladicka, pastor. Those attending Mass on Monday may proceed directly to the church. Interment, SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Avoca.

Friends and family may call Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m., at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton.
