Chester Georgetti, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Chester L. Georgetti, 79, formerly of Scranton, died Friday, Feb. 18 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida, where he has lived for the last 20 years. In 2013, he married the love of his life and partner of 50 years, Alan J. Kosh.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Dominick and Eleanor Grady Georgetti. He attended the University of Scranton and graduated from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, where he was a member of the Brothers of Holy Cross. He taught at St. Mary of Mount Carmel School in the Bronx for 12 years before returning to Scranton, where he worked as an outreach coordinator for the elderly of Lackawanna County. Chester also served as a chaplain at Compassionate Care Hospice and was involved in management and sales for Georgetti Garden Center, Minooka.

A man of great faith, he participated in the RCIA program and as a eucharistic minister at the Cathedral of St. Peter. He loved watching old movies and reading, especially history. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Also surviving are a sister, Mary Joan Gibbs, Old Forge; and a brother, Dominick and wife, Linda, Minooka.; sister in-law, Marcella, Clarks Summit; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack, and his wife, Patricia, and brother-in-law, Robert Gibbs. His brother Matthew died Friday, March 4.

In accordance with his wishes, he has been cremated. The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 312 Davis St., celebrated by the Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Minooka.

Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave. Masks are recommended.
