Thinh Van Nguyen

Thinh Van Nguyen, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Thinh Van Nguyen, 68, of Scranton, died Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center.

Born in Vietnam, his wife of nearly 40 years is the former Pamela Sporer. Thinh grew up in Vietnam before arriving in Northeastern Pennsylvania after the Vietnam War. Many people know Thinh as the Subaru-expert and long-time owner of D&M in West Scranton since 1991. After he "retired" in 2019, Thinh loved spending time with his four grandchildren and dog.

Thinh was so incredibly proud of his kids and wanted them to have a life better than the one he had growing up.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Mai Lynn (Gary) Peters, Clarks Summit; and David (Mary) Nguyen, Athens, Ohio; six brothers and sisters and mother, all in Vietnam; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and three siblings.

The funeral will be Friday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica Parish, 1233 St. Ann's St., followed by interment at Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends and family may visit Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton, for a walk-through viewing. Due to the pandemic and capacity limitations, we ask for your patience and adherence to masking and social distancing guidelines and limit time spent with the family.
