Walter D. Hedden, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Walter D. Hedden, age 89, of Monroe, Conn., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Dziokowski) Hedden.

Born in Scranton on June 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter and Stella (Delesky) Hedden. Mr. Hedden was a proud United States Navy veteran, having served honorably aboard the U.S.S. Randolph during the Korean War. Walter earned his bachelor's degree in electronics from the University of Scranton and later earned his master's degree in business administration from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Conn. Walter's career as an electrical engineer began at Sperry Gyroscope, where his skills were used on the Polaris Submarines in Groton, Conn. He later worked for Sikorsky Aircraft and the last 25 years of his career were spent with Harris Corporation, Long Island, N.Y. before his retirement as an electrical engineer manager. After his retirement, he became a licensed realtor to occupy his spare time. He was proud to serve the town of Monroe as their Housing Authority chairman for the past 31 years.

Walt cherished his wife, Joan. Married for 63 years, their deep love and respect for each other was apparent to everyone who knew them. Their strong ties to their family made them happiest, especially their great-nephews, Joshua and Jacob Boehler.

In addition to his beloved wife Joan, other survivors include his sister-in-law, Martha DeFazio of Scranton with who he had a great friendship; his loving niece, Jennifer Boehler and her husband, Todd of Hebron, Conn.; his adored great-nephews, Joshua and Jacob Boehler; and his brothers, Robert Hedden of New York and Ronald Hedden of Clarks Green.

A graveside burial service with military honors is scheduled for noon on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at Saint Mary's of Chestochowa Cemetery in Greenwood. Arrangements, Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc.
