Claire M. O'Halloran passed away peacefully on Tuesday, just shy of her 100th birthday, in the loving care of St. Anne's Retirement Community, Lancaster, Pa. Her husband, Francis P. O'Halloran, and daughter, Marimichael Skubel, preceded her in death, along with her sister and brother, and her lifelong friends.
Her daughter, Nancy O'Halloran, and son, Frank O'Halloran (Liesl Odenweller), and son-in-law, Steve Skubel (Therese Romayne) remained an important part of her life, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, John Skubel, (Ana Quintela and daughter, Alicia), Cara Hoadley (Chris Hoadley and son, Connor), Thomas O'Halloran (Larrissa Jones), Anna O'Halloran; niece, Susan Gilmore; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Claire was often teased that she was the unofficial mayor Scranton, singing its praises to all who would listen. Her kind and generous neighbors, Ann and Jack Harrington and Carol Shimo, made it possible for Claire to live in her home until the age of 98. Most remembered for her red hair, stylish dress and quick wit, Claire left a lasting impression on all she met.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., celebrated by the Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor, followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements, Neil W. Regan Funeral Home, 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton PA 18505.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to St Anne's Retirement Community Benevolent Fund, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA 17512 in her memory.
